IPNO is an armchair that becomes a bed for a guest designed for Campeggi, the historic Italian company that has made the transformable vision of its products a cult. Finemateria wanted to design a product inspired by the wearable approach. The object has an inseparable relationship with the entire body of the user.

Ipno is a mythological character: god of sleep and son of night. This is when the armchair opens up and comes to life, and like a spirit guide it embraces us and leads us into the way of dreams.

The project comes from a research about the meaning of transformation, trying to abstract it and open new arguments of it.

Through its actions the body is the element able to change and change the form of the object. The importance of communicating the work on the body, emphasizing how the person is an integral part of the processes was a goal.

This is why the path goes close to the vision of wearable design, where the body has the most interaction and completes the product. Ipno when folded becomes a lightweight armchair that when opened becomes a wearable bed, protecting the body and giving the right comfort. A single polyurethane foam component lined with ripstop fabric, both materials are plastic in nature. The choice falls on conceiving an easy, dis-assembly, washable and antibacterial product.
